How to create a Wi-Fi network in your second home, garage, etc.?

A so-called smart home is only a smart home as long as there is an internet connection. If you want to use Celeon devices, for example, in your second home or garage, it is a good idea to use a mobile broadband Wi-Fi router to create an internet connection. You can connect multiple Celeon devices to a Wi-Fi network.

In order for the mobile broadband router to work, you need to insert a SIM card in the router. Celeon devices do not require high data speeds or volumes to work. Telecommunications operators offer M2M packages specifically for small devices. These packages usually have a monthly fee of 2–3 euros. When choosing a package, you should take into consideration that one Celeon device requires a maximum of 40 MB of data per month to work.

You can often find used routers on the aftermarket which may be the most affordable way to create the necessary internet connection. Since Celeon devices do not require high-speed internet to work, you can successfully use an older generation router.

A small pocket router, for example, is also good option here.

When you are choosing a router, you need to make sure whether automatic firmware updates can be deactivated or not. Deactivating firmware updates is essential to ensure that the monthly data limit of M2M packages is not exceeded. Additionally, preference should be given to 4G or 2G routers as some telecommunications operators are planning to shutdown the 3G network in the near future.
